Leipzig

The research of the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig is focusing on brain processes and cognitive abilities of humans. A major goal of our research is to understand the neuronal basis of higher brain functions such as language, emotion and social behavior, music and action. Furthermore, we investigate the neuroplasticity and its influence on various cognitive abilities as well as the neuronal and hormonal basis of lifestyle diseases such as hypertension and obesity. Another focus is high-resolution functional and anatomical imaging of the brain. In addition, the development of imaging methods for the neurosciences is a central focus of research at the Institute.
